About Us
Hello, friend.
In this exploding universe called the Internet, there are now millions of web sites, with thousands more being added daily. What makes this one different in any way?
Glad you asked.
Over ten years ago, I copyrighted the name GOLD LABEL and formulated the concept of a "senior tour for singers", like the ones that are extremely popular in tennis and golf. All the major labels have dropped most of the major artists and living legends who are older now
than 40 or 50. That upset me, for two reasons: one, I admire almost all those artists, and two--I am one!
And like me, many of these world famous singers are still performing and have countless fans who would love something new from their favorites. But to the giant companies, the Baby Boomer generation doesn't exist; they're only interested in kids and young adults, from preteen to maybe early 30s, and they focus all their budgets and promotion on newer and much younger acts.
I understand that, though I think it's extremely short-sighted. You can do both, developing young artists and continuing to give mature fans more records from the artists who helped build and grow the companies in the first place!
So, since that wasn't happening, I decided to do it myself. I contacted a number of my peers, singers who'd sold millions of records and who were still doing concerts all over the world, and told them about THE GOLD LABEL. I offered them the opportunity to make new records and be part of keeping their previous hits available. In a few days, I heard enthusiastic acceptances from many of them--and in the next 3 years, we released 26 new CDs by fabulous singers like Jack Jones, Glen Campbell, Patty Page, Cleo Laine, The Four Freshmen, ShaNaNa, The Ventures! and many more, including multiplatinum Roger Williams.
There are lots more artists and records in the pipeline, and an almost endless parade of successful ones heading our way--just like the senior tour in golf, each year. And we're trying to make all the previous catalog available, too.
Along the way, we've come across some fine new, previously not widely known talent, and once in a while we'll introduce our folks to them, too. My goal is simple:
I want to further already illustrious careers, and help keep their very valuable records and talents easily available. I've crowded in among them myself, but I honestly admire these artists and consider this the place to stay in touch with them.
Welcome to Pat Boone's GOLD LABEL!!
